The Prosecutor's Office is asking for 8 years in prison for a man accused of raping a woman inside a car in Playa Blanca, in the Pechiguera Lighthouse area. The events occurred in 2020 and the trial will be held next week in Arrecife, before the First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas.

According to the indictment, the defendant had been having a drink with the victim that night and at around 2:30 in the morning, he offered to take her home in his car. However, once inside the vehicle, he deviated from the route and headed to that secluded area, where he tried to kiss her. "Faced with her refusal, he struggled with her and dealt her a blow to the left side of the head," the Public Prosecutor's Office points out.

Afterwards, he adds that he took advantage of the effect of the blow and the alcohol he had consumed "to lower her pants and panties and penetrate her vaginally", against her will.

The medical reports after the aggression confirm that the victim suffered different injuries to her face, knees and arms, so in addition to a crime of sexual assault, the Prosecutor's Office charges the accused with another minor crime of injuries.

For the first, he is asking for 8 years in prison and a ban on approaching the victim within 500 meters for 12 years, while for the second he is requesting that a fine of 1,080 euros be imposed. In addition, he demands that he compensate the victim with 5,000 euros.
