What are the most in-demand careers at the University of Las Palmas this academic year?

More than 11,000 students have pre-enrolled for fewer than 5,000 places. For Medicine, the most desired, there are almost 13 candidates per offered place.

A total of 11,085 students have pre-enrolled to pursue a Bachelor's degree at the ULPGC for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year, a figure very similar to last year's. Of the total,7,115 students are from the province of Las Palmas and1,117 from the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Additionally, 2,853 pre-enrollments have been registered from the rest of Spain and the world.

The Faculty of Health Sciences continues, for another year, to be the center with the most in-demand degrees, with1,917 pre-enrollments for the Bachelor's degree in Medicine (150 places) and1,110 for the Bachelor's degree in Nursing (787 for the Gran Canaria campus, 176 in Lanzarote, and 147 in Fuerteventura). Following this is thenew Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which is launching this 2026/2027 academic year and has been a success, with791 pre-enrolled students.

The Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine is also another of the most in-demand degrees at the ULPGC, growing to 716 pre-enrolled students, about 50 more than last year. Following this, in order, are theBachelor's degree in Primary Education in non-face-to-face format (571); Primary Education in face-to-face mode (452); theBachelor's degree in Law (435);Business Administration and Management (426); and inSports Science and Physical Activity (422). The most in-demand double degrees are ADE and Law, with 124 pre-enrolled students, and Early Childhood and Primary Education with 109 applications.

The high demand for new degrees implemented in recent years at the ULPGC also stands out:Biotechnology, with 169 pre-enrolled students;Physical and Mathematical Engineering, with 143 pre-enrolled students;Biomedical Engineering, with 123 pre-enrolled students; orData Science and Engineering, with 104 pre-enrolled students.

For the next academic year 2026-2027, the ULPGC offers 4,882 places for new students in Bachelor's degree studies (52 degrees), of which 38 degrees are taught face-to-face in Gran Canaria, 2 in Lanzarote, and 1 in Fuerteventura; as well as 6 double degree programs. In non-face-to-face mode, 5 degrees are offered, including the new Bachelor's degree in Psychology which begins to be taught in this upcoming academic year.

 

Among Master's degrees, Teacher Training is at the top

Regarding Master's studies, there has been anincrease in pre-enrolled students compared to the previous year: a total of 2,528 applications, of which 1,697 are first-choice pre-enrollments, as each student can choose to pre-enroll in two Master's degrees.

The University Master's Degree in Teacher Training is once again at the forefront of the most in-demand, with 1,015 pre-registrations (779 students who choose this master's degree as their first option in one of its specializations).

In the 2026/2027 academic year, the ULPGC offers 29 master's degrees. Among them, the high demand for new master's degrees launched in recent years stands out, such as the one in Digital Teaching Competencies, with 206 enrolled. Also noteworthy are the 72 applications for the Master's in Marketing and Digital Strategies, as well as the 61 enrolled in the MBA Master's, which begin their journey this academic year.

Students who have pre-registered at the ULPGC will be able to consult the provisional data on the institutional website,from July 7, and, in case of detecting any error in their pre-registration process, they can request correction until next Thursday, July 9.
