The applications for the Government of Canarias university scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year have increased by 26% compared to the same period of the previous call. According to the data recorded up to July 14, 1,343 applications had been submitted through the electronic headquarters, compared to the 1,069 counted on the same dates for the 2025-2026 academic year.

At the same time, the need for assistance has been significantly reduced during the process. Calls to the 012 information service have decreased by 41%, while in-person assistance has dropped by 66%, indicators that point to greater ease in completing the application autonomously.

The Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, pointed out that "the data from these first days show that the measures incorporated to simplify the process are facilitating access to the scholarships. We wanted the procedure to be simpler for the students and for more and more people to be able to submit their application autonomously."

Machín recalled that this call incorporates for the first time proactive administration measures that allow those who have already applied for these grants in previous years to access the procedure with much of the information preloaded.

"Reducing administrative burdens is a way to improve public services and to facilitate access to resources that help guarantee equal opportunities," she stated.

The application submission period will remain open until August 6. The call for the 2026-2027 academic year incorporates, among other new features, the increase of the residence aid up to 3,000 euros, the update of income thresholds, the reinforcement of second chance and academic excellence modalities.
