The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) has presented its new offer of degrees and master's degrees for the 2026-2027 academic year, which responds to the results of the Degree Map prepared by the Vice-Rectorate for Degrees, Quality, and Educational Innovation, and which was based on more than 40,000 surveys of experts, the productive sector, and the academic community.
Next academic year, the ULPGC launches two new degrees: Psychology and Geography, Territorial Sciences and Environment.
The Degree in Psychology will be offered in a non-face-to-face (online) modality, it will have 80 places. Its objective is the study of human behavior, mental processes, emotions, and social relationships. Graduates will be able to practice in educational, social, legal, and labor fields, and it opens the way towards subsequent health specialization through a qualifying master's degree.
The Degree in Geography, Territorial Sciences and Environment replaces the current Degree in Geography and Territorial Planning of the ULPGC, and is attached to the Faculty of Geography and History.
The new degree offers the possibility to choose between two training itineraries: Territorial Planning, designed to train in the efficient planning and management of the territory; or Teaching, Diffusion and Territorial Culture, aimed at training in the understanding, teaching and dissemination of territorial culture. This new degree, which has an offer of 50 places, trains specialists in territorial analysis, sustainability, urban and rural planning, environmental management, cartography, heritage and natural risks.
Furthermore, for the next academic year, the ULPGC expands the specializations of two of its most requested degrees. In the Degree in Business Administration and Management, the following training pathways will be offered: Accounting, entrepreneurship in the new economy, finance, and international business, which will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to develop specific roles in business organizations.
For its part, in the Degree in Tourism two specializations are proposed: hotel management, and design and creation of tourist products. Both specializations can be taken at the ULPGC campus in Gran Canaria as well as in Lanzarote.
New Master's degrees in African Studies, MBA and Digital Technologies in the Green Economy
Furthermore, next academic year three new master's degrees will be offered: The Master's Degree in African Studies, with great international projection and which delves into the social, economic, and political reality of the African continent. Strategic training from the Canary Islands for those seeking to specialize in cooperation, international relations, migration, or development.
Also new will be the Master in Business Administration and Management (MBA), aimed at training future managers and entrepreneurs, developing skills in leadership, strategy, innovation, and business management in real and global environments.
And, finally, the Master's Degree in Digital Technologies in the Green Economy (Green Tech), an innovative degree that unites digital transformation and sustainability to train professionals capable of facing the great environmental and economic challenges of the future. The master's degree combines technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, or drones applied to areas such as energy, environmental conservation, precision agriculture, or the circular economy. Furthermore, it prepares specialized profiles in sustainable business management, green innovation, and local development.
In addition to these three new master's degrees, the ULPGC has made a substantial modification to its Master's in Marketing, turning it into Master's in Marketing and Digital Strategies. This new specialization combines strategic vision, market research, commercial management, communication, trade marketing, and digital marketing, with special attention to data analysis, technological innovation, and evidence-based decision-making.
