The Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote has formalized a collaboration agreement with the Institute of Vocational Training Maritime-Fisheries of the Canary Islands in Arrecife. The main objective of this union is the realization of specialized practical training in firefighting, integrated into the Firefighting Courses of the Merchant Navy.
In the signing of the agreement were present the president of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote, Francisco Aparicio; the Minister of Education of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo; and the director of the IFPMP, Carmen Déniz.
“Our mission is not only to intervene in the emergency, but to pour our knowledge and resources into the training of the island's future professionals. With this agreement, we are making our expert personnel and our facilities available to the students of the Maritime Fisheries Institute so that their learning is as real and safe as possible,” assured Aparicio.
For their part, the Minister of Education positively valued this agreement "which will positively impact the students of the educational center". "We have a center that is a benchmark throughout Spain, so these types of synergies that enhance training, and also with a view to the future, are fundamental," she added.
Through this rubric, the Consortium commits to designating specialized personnel who will act as instructors in the practical sessions. Furthermore, the entity will cede the use of its technical material and facilities so that students can face real fire situations in controlled and professional environments.
For its part, the Maritime Fishing Institute will coordinate with the Consortium a training calendar that does not interfere with the island's ordinary emergency services, ensuring that each group of students has the necessary coverage and insurance for the development of the activity.
The agreement establishes an initial four-year collaboration framework, extendable for another four, which ensures stability in the curricula and continuous improvement in training protocols. To ensure compliance with these objectives, a Joint Monitoring Commission has been established to annually evaluate the results of the internships.
