The execution of the NextGenerationEU funds has allowed Canarian professionals to be part of the training plan in digital skills and Artificial Intelligence in particular.

This is Upro, the program that directly benefits active professionals from sectors fundamental to the Canarian economy, thanks to technological training adapted to their professional realities.

It is an example of how European investment translates into a direct improvement of professional services. According to the latest participation data from the Upro program, promoted by Red.es, an entity attached to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, through the Secretariat of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

The program is developed in collaboration with Unión Profesional, the most representative association of chartered professions at the state level, more than 2,500 Canarian professionals have begun their training in digital skills, thanks to the effort and work of a large number of professional corporations from the two provinces of the region committed to this program.

The program covers 19 professions in the Canary Islands, among which, by number of students, stand out workers in law, medicine, and nursing. The people receiving this training, Un 60% women, have completed more than 125,000 hours, of which 8,000 correspond to in-person training, thanks to the Canarian professional colleges.

The investment of 200 million euros through the Next Generation funds of the European Union aimed at this program for its application throughout the national territory, is allowing professionals from different sectors essential for the Canarian economy and society, such as the health, legal, social, economic, technical architecture, and engineering sectors, to apply AI tools to raise the quality of services provided to citizens and to be more competitive and efficient in an increasingly digitized world.

The Upro training itinerary remains active until June 30.
