From June 1, the authorities of Venice are introducing a new measure to control the tourist flows that come to the capital of Veneto. The city limits organized tourist groups to a maximum of 25 people

In addition, microphones and loudspeakers used by tourist guides are prohibited, not only in the historic center of the city, but also on the surrounding islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.

Meanwhile, the charge of five euros for entry for tourists who do not stay overnight in the city (they already pay a tourist tax), was introduced on April 25. Entry payment is not required for arrivals after 4:00 p.m.

On the first day of operation of the measure, more than 80,000 people were registered, although only 10% bought the ticket to enter the city.  The rest are residents of Veneto and their relatives, workers, students and other exempt categories, who are also required to register. In the first week, the city raised 723,000 euros with the entry fee.
