Canary Islands was the preferred destination in Spain in January for tourist apartments, with more than 2.8 million overnight stays and an increase of 20.9% compared to January 2024.
The tourist apartments in Lanzarote (not including vacation homes) had the highest occupancy in the country with 90.3% occupancy.
At the national level, overnight stays in tourist apartments increased by 11.2% in January. Those of residents decreased by 2.2%, while those of non-residents increased by 14.6%. The average stay increased by 4.9%, up to 6.2 overnight stays per traveler.
In January, 32% of the places offered were occupied, 1.9% more than in the same month of 2024. The degree of occupancy per place on weekends was 34.5%, 4.3% more.
82.3% of overnight stays were made by non-resident travelers. The United Kingdom was the main issuing market, with 25.5% of the total.
