The staff of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism show off since this Thursday, June 4, the new uniforms of the entity inspired by the original designs of César Manrique.
The counselor Ángel Vázquez visited this morning the Islote de Fermina and La Cueva de los Verdes to share the staff's impressions about garments linked to the island's history. The staff of the rest of the centers will wear their new garments in the coming days.
“They are a living example of Manrique's creativity and the identity not only of the Tourist Centers, but of Lanzarote,” explained Vázquez, who also thanked “the collaboration and support provided by the César Manrique Foundation throughout this process.”
“We have more than enough reasons to be proud of these works of art that connect us with our origin and with the visual memory of Lanzarote,” he pointed out during the morning.
Thus, soon, the workers of Jameos del Agua and the Cactus Garden will wear their traditional uniforms, the maitres in lilac and the hall staff in orange. Meanwhile, at Montañas del Fuego, the historic white shirts with the volcano on the chest are being brought back, the maitres with red shirts.
For their part, the catering staff at the Mirador del Río will wear blue with the maitre in lilac. At the Monumento al Campesino, the traditional costume with a mandarin collar shirt and a sash at the waist will be brought back.
Likewise, the uniforms designed by Manrique for the bus drivers, parking attendants, guards, and the ticket office, gardening, cleaning, and shop teams have been recovered.
The garments have been made with modern, sustainable, and breathable fabrics to facilitate the workers' tasks.
