FIRMA PROTOCOLO ADHESIÓN MANIFIESTO 'TURISMO QUE SUMA' (23)

Through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, and hand in hand with the Lanzarote Tourism Federation, the island reinforces its commitment to a responsible, competitive and sustainable tourism model

The Lanzarote Council has been the first public institution in Spain to adhere to the manifesto “Tourism that Adds Up”, promoted by Exceltur, an alliance that brings together the main tourism companies in Spain.

The island's first institution has signed an Accession Protocol with Exceltur, signed last Friday between the island's president, Oswaldo Betancort, and the executive vice president of Exceltur, Óscar Perelli del Amo, in an event that also included the CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, and the president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL), Susana Pérez, who also formalized the incorporation of the island's business association to this national initiative that seeks a more balanced, inclusive and value-generating tourism development.

The “Tourism that Adds Up” manifesto advocates for tourism in Spain to increase its social, economic and environmental returns, and for destinations to lead a transformation process towards greater quality, innovation and sustainability.

In that sense, the president of the Lanzarote Council, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that “Lanzarote has been and will continue to be a benchmark in sustainability and in the search for a more human tourism, which protects what we are and, at the same time, generates opportunities for our people. With this adhesion to the Exceltur manifesto, we reinforce a vision that connects with our island model and with the future of tourism in the Canary Islands and in Spain”.

The CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, highlighted that “our promotional work and international positioning is aligned with the values of Tourism that Adds Up. We want to continue showing Lanzarote as a competitive and differentiated destination, which is committed to quality and innovation without losing its identity or its environmental values”.

The president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL), Susana Pérez, pointed out that “for the tourism sector of Lanzarote, joining this manifesto means reaffirming our commitment to competitiveness through responsible and regenerative tourism. The island's tourism business community wants to contribute to a tourism that generates real benefits for the local economy and that is also sensitive to our territory and our community”.

For his part, the representative of Exceltur celebrated the incorporation of Lanzarote to the initiative, stating that “Lanzarote becomes a key ally in this roadmap to transform tourism in Spain. Its experience in sustainability and its ability to balance development and conservation make it a benchmark at national and international level. From here, I invite all those public and private entities interested in promoting better tourism to join the initiative”.
