The César Manrique Airport of Lanzarote has closed the first eight months of the year with a total volume of 5,943,360 passengers, almost six million people, despite falling by 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to official data from AENA provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.
The evolution throughout the year reflects a peak in demand during the summer period. After a first quarter of great activity led by March (794,349 travelers), the months of July and August registered the highest monthly records. August was crowned as the month of greatest attendance in the facilities with 830,015 passengers (+0.5%), closely followed by July, which exceeded 800,000 users (+0.2%). On the contrary, the months of April (-3.7%) and May (-0.8%) recorded the most pronounced declines of the year.
Regarding air operations, the Lanzarote aerodrome recorded a total of 48,367 commercial flights between January and August, which represents a testimonial increase of 0.2% compared to 2025. The volume of flights remained uniform, recording its monthly maximum in August with 6,485 operations, followed by March with 6,468 movements.
For its part, cargo transport closed the first eight months with an accumulated total of 299,418 kilograms, registering a global drop of 3.2%.
Although the first half of the year was marked by notable declines in cargo traffic —with double-digit drops in March (-14.7%) and January (-12.9%)—, the summer data showed a significant recovery in the commercial sector, highlighting the rebound experienced in August with an increase of 23% and 38,046 kilos mobilized.
