The Exceltur Partners' Assembly, which brings together the country's largest tourism companies, has agreed to the appointment of Juan Orti, president of American Express Spain, as the new president of the association.
As president of American Express Spain, one of the seven founding companies of the tourism lobby, Orti has “extensive experience in the financial sector and services, after having developed his career for more than two decades in positions of responsibility within the company, both nationally and internationally”.
Replaces Gabriel Escarrer, who concludes his stage at the helm after seven years. About Escarrer, the association of large tourism companies has highlighted his leadership “in one of the most complex moments for the tourism sector, such as the crisis caused by the pandemic”.
They have also highlighted that under their impulse, "Tourism that Adds Up" was launched, an initiative aimed at strengthening the reputation of tourism and highlighting its economic, social, and territorial contribution to the country as a whole, emphasizing its role as a driver of prosperity, employment, and cohesion for Spain and its destinations.
They consider that during his mandate, Escarrer "has also consolidated Exceltur's role as one of the main forums for analysis, strategic reflection and proposal for the Spanish tourism sector."
The new president faces this stage with the objective of “continuing to strengthen Exceltur's role as a benchmark in the analysis and promotion of initiatives that boost the competitiveness and sustainability of Spanish tourism, as well as continuing to promote a constructive dialogue between the public and private sectors that contributes to consolidating Spain's leadership as an international tourist destination".
