The Tías Town Council will celebrate International Tourism Day in Puerto del Carmen on September 27 and 28 with a grand gala honoring professionals in the sector and relevant people from ZEConsciente and with a round table connected to the presentation of the book Visions of the history of Tourism in Lanzarote.

During the gala, organized by the Departments of Tourism and the Environment, different videos related to the tourist value of Puerto del Carmen and the people honored will be screened. There will be dance and a visual tour of the evolution of tourism in La Tiñosa from 1969 to 2024 will be offered.
In this first edition of the celebration of International Tourism Day Puerto del Carmen and ZEConsciente, the work related to the hospitality industry of Wenceslao Gil Tejera, president of the Lanzarote Bartender Association and promoter of the celebration in Puerto del Carmen on December 6 of the National Cocktail Competition, will be recognized.
Miguel Santos Ortíz, maître and hospitality businessman, owner of the Vino + establishment, which stands out for its close and familiar treatment of customers, as well as the professionalism and quality of the menu and service, will also be honored. Miguel Santos has also performed multiple tasks in the sector, such as that of tourist guide.
The importance of the conservation of the coastline and the seabed is linked to the work of the men and women of the sea, represented by Modesta Marrero García, sea worker, Francisco Rodríguez Rodríguez, the oldest skipper of the La Tiñosa Fishermen's Association, and Rogelio Herrera Pérez, in memoriam, Doctor of Marine Sciences and oceanographer who made visible the natural values of Playa Chica and the Cagafrecho area. The involvement of IES Puerto del Carmen in the dissemination of the ZEConsciente municipal project will also be highlighted.
The celebration will continue on Saturday, September 28, at 12:00 noon, with a round table open to public participation and linked to the presentation of the book Visions of the history of tourism in Lanzarote, published in 2023 by the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
