Traveling to Lanzarote is becoming increasingly expensive, and the main responsibility for this increase falls on two fundamental items: accommodation and air transport, which account for seven out of every ten euros.
According to official data provided by the Lanzarote Data Center on average daily spending per tourist on the island corresponding to the second quarter of the year, global expenditure reached 181.9 euros per day, representing an 18% increase compared to the 154.6 euros registered in the same period of 2025.
However, behind this total spending figure lies a highly unequal distribution. The cost of lodging and the plane or boat ticket account for the real "lion's share" of visitors' budgets, totaling 129.9 euros per day between the two items, meaning 71.4% of the money each tourist spends during their stay.
Lodging leads the budget increase
Spending on accommodation consolidates as the main pinch to the traveler's pocket, going from 74.6 euros per day in the second quarter of 2025 to 85.1 euros in 2026 (14% more).
Within this category, the main expense for lodging amounts to 83.6 euros per day (a 13% increase), while ancillary services linked to the stay experienced a relative increase of 97%, albeit on reduced absolute figures (from 0.8 to 1.5 euros).
For its part, national and international transport—driven mainly by airline fares—is the second concept with the greatest economic weight and one of the most expensive: travelers went from spending 36.1 euros per day in 2025 to 44.8 euros in 2026, which implies a significant increase of 24%.
Increase in leisure and mobility within the island
Once the initial impact of transport to the island and accommodation is absorbed, the remaining budget margin for visitors to spend in the local economy shows significant percentage increases, although moderate in absolute values.
Spending on food amounts to 26.7 euros per day (+11%). Tourists mostly opt to consume from the local restaurant offerings, where spending increases by 16% to 19.7 euros per day. In contrast, spending in supermarkets remains practically stagnant at 7.1 euros (+1%).
Meanwhile, spending on local transport (car rentals, buses, taxis) increases by 28% and goes from 8.5 to 10.8 euros per day.
For their part, leisure activities experience an increase in spending of 35% (from 6.4 to 8.7 euros per day), while the purchase of goods increases by 11%, reaching 4.9 euros.
The balance of the second quarter of 2026 paints a profile of a tourist who spends significantly more in Lanzarote, but whose internal consumption capacity in complementary offerings is conditioned by the sharp increase in essential travel and accommodation costs.
