Papagayo campsite will reopen at Easter

An area that will remain open "only during the holiday periods of Easter and summer", since "it is when there is optimal occupancy, which allows the service not to be in deficit", according to the councilor

Papagayo Camping

The Papagayo camping area, located within the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, will reopen its doors during this Easter week, specifically, from next Friday, March 31 to Sunday, April 9.

“We are reopening the doors of this space so that campers and caravaners can enjoy their holidays on the island, as we had already told them in previous meetings,” says Myriam Barros, Minister of Youth of the institution.

Barros explains that "the camping area remained open last year from Easter to the end of December", an experience that turned out to be “not profitable”. For this reason, once 2022 ended, "it was decided to open the facilities only during the holiday periods of Easter and summer, “which is when there is optimal occupancy, which allows the service not to be in deficit”.

The services established for Easter in the facilities will be: electricity and water supply in common areas, bathrooms and showers, 24-hour security and surveillance service and a deposit for chemical toilets.

For residents, the price of the plot for motorhomes or trailers per day will be 9 euros and that of the plot for camping in a cabin will be 6 euros, for a maximum of four people in both cases. For non-residents, the price rises to 11 euros per day in the case of plots for motorhomes or trailers and 8 euros for those intended for camping in a cabin. Likewise, for each extra camper over 14 years of age who stays overnight in the facilities, two euros per day must be paid if they are residents and three euros if they are not.

“At no time did we fail to fulfill what we said, which was that the facilities would remain in operation throughout 2022, but a service that is in deficit cannot be maintained, wasting public money, as some members of the opposition seem to intend,” says the island councilor, responding to the accusations recently launched by the PP.
