Overnight stays in tourist apartments in Lanzarote fell by 0.4% in July compared to last year, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Despite the fact that there were almost 8,000 more international overnight stays than last year, up to a total of 555,221 nights, the fall in the national market, which accounted for almost 11,000 fewer overnight stays, down to 71,277, makes the balance negative.

Despite everything, Tías was the third most popular tourist spot with the most overnight stays in the country (318,026), only behind Arona and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

On the other hand, in the whole of the Canary Islands they rose by 2.1% during the month of July, reaching 2.2 million nights, compared to the same month of 2023, while at the state level they contracted by 1.3%.

The Canary Islands were the preferred destination in apartments, with more than 2.2 million nights and an increase of 2.1% compared to July 2023; while Baleares recorded the highest occupancy, with 86%.

At the state level, stays in this type of tourist alternative decreased due, in large part, to a decrease of 5.1% in those of Spaniards compared to an increase of 1.2% in those of foreigners, while the price rose by 6.2%.

Stays in rural houses and hostels also decreased in July by 2.1% and 5.6%, respectively; although, thanks to a rebound of 6.7% in those made in campsites, as a whole, overnight stays in extra-hotel accommodation experienced an increase of 1.7% compared to the same month of 2023.

In total, in July there were 21.7 million stays in this type of accommodation, registering a reduction of 0.1% in those of residents and an increase of 3.7% in those of foreigners.

The average stay was 4.6 nights per traveler, being 5.3 nights in apartments (1.1% less), according to figures published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

61.3% of overnight stays in tourist apartments were made by foreigners, with the United Kingdom being the main issuing market, with 30.9% of the total.
