The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has summoned business developers with interests in Playa Blanca to a meeting scheduled for next Monday, November 10, at the southern House of Culture at 5:00 PM to address, as the sole item, the processing of the Playa Blanca Tourist Modernization Plan.

"I have invited the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote because the approval of the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Territorial Policy of the Government of the Canary Islands is proposed to legitimize the island's First Corporation as the one to formulate the Plan, and of course, both the City Council and the developers have and will have a lot to say."

Yaiza gave her consent to sign this agreement last February, however, before signing the Decree, the mayor warned of the lack of sufficient information from Oswaldo Betancort: "both we, as the local Administration, who have important projected works such as the complete modernization of the Playa Blanca promenade and the provision of public parking areas, and potential private investors, need maximum transparency in the processing and future formulation of the Plan".

The City Council, adds the mayor, "advocates for administrative collaboration and from our side the Cabildo will have all the information it requires. Our technical and legal services are available for the development of the Modernization Plan. We all agree that we must improve the competitiveness of Lanzarote's primary tourist hub, but if we want the Plan to be feasible, there is no other way than to go hand in hand, and that is what we are again asking the Cabildo for, institutional loyalty".

The mayor of Yaiza has always defended the need for the Plan and, in his capacity as a councilor of the Cabildo in opposition, he also made known the demand for that document for the three tourist municipalities of Lanzarote through an initiative debated in Plenary.
