The Lanzarote Tourism Federation is preparing for Fitur with a primary challenge: to boost peninsular tourism, after a year in which a decrease in this market has been recorded.
"This International Tourism Fair in Madrid is presented as a unique opportunity to reconquer the national tourist and consolidate their presence on the island," emphasized the president of the FTL, Susana Pérez.
To this end, the employers' association has set as its main objective to improve air connectivity, since the scarcity of seats and high prices have been key factors in the declines recorded since the months of July and August.
In fact, with the start of the winter season, connectivity increased, and November recorded a 30% rebound in the arrival of national tourists, which demonstrates that connectivity is one of the key factors to reverse data from the peninsular market for the island.
During the Fair, which begins on January 22, the Lanzarote delegation will meet with the airlines that fly to the peninsula to secure more seats not only from Madrid but also from other routes. The objective is to guarantee an adequate offer for the summer of 2025, as well as for the next winter season.
"Lanzarote is a privileged destination in the winter season, from November to March, when temperatures in Europe and also in the Peninsula are much lower. We must take advantage of this climatic advantage to retain tourists who visit us at this time, so that they also do so in summer, when many seasonal destinations open. This is the great challenge," said the president of the FTL.
In addition, work will be done with travel agencies and tour operators so that summer campaigns are announced earlier, encouraging peninsular tourists to book in advance, as other issuing markets, such as the British, do. The objective is for the peninsular tourist to join the habit of early booking, "at the latest, before Easter," to secure air seats and better prices.
"The Lanzarote Tourism Federation travels to Fitur with the aim of addressing these challenges, working in close collaboration with the different actors in the sector, and positioning Lanzarote as a competitive and quality destination, increasing spending at the destination," said Susana Pérez, who hopes that this Fair will be the starting point for a 2025 full of achievements and advances for the island's tourism sector.
