With the arrival of winter, cycling enthusiasts may feel restricted by weather conditions, but Spain proves that it is possible to enjoy this sport throughout the year.

Especially in Canary Islands, according to a study by the main second-hand bike market Buycycle, which places the archipelago in the first place in the world, mainly thanks to its winter climate. Among the islands Lanzarote stands out, receiving more bicycle tourists than Gran Canaria and Tenerife combined.

From the Canary Islands, the average winter temperature of 19.2 degrees Celsius stands out, as well as its volcanic landscapes and coastal routes with exciting tours.

The mild climate throughout the year guarantees "excellent conditions to explore charming villages, historical sites and vibrant markets along the routes," the study explains.

"For the more adventurous, the steep ascents to volcanic peaks are rewarded with impressive panoramic views. It is a sun-drenched paradise for a perfect cycling holiday," he concludes.

The study also highlights among the top ten destinations four other areas of Spain: the Almería Coast in third place, the Costa Blanca in seventh place, Málaga in eighth place and Mallorca in tenth place.

The list is completed by Tucson, in Arizona, which ranks second in the world after the Canary Islands; Madeira in fourth place; Cyprus in fifth place; Southern California ranks sixth and the Algarve obtains ninth place.
