The tourist apartments of Lanzarote presented an occupancy of 86.5% in August, the highest in the Canary Islands and only behind the Balearic Islands in the country as a whole, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

This type of accommodation does not include vacation homes but exclusively apartments designed from their opening to provide tourist service.

The tourist apartments of Lanzarote registered almost 670,000 overnight stays in August. A number almost identical to that of last year, thanks to the fact that the fall in national tourism (-14%) was offset by the growth of foreign tourism (+1.8%).

By municipalities, the tourist spots with the highest number of overnight stays are Canarian: San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Arona and Tías, which accounted for more than half of the overnight stays in Lanzarote

Nationally, overnight stays in tourist apartments increased by 2.0% in August. Those of residents fell by 3.8%, while those of non-residents increased by 6.7%.

In absolute numbers, the Valencian Community was the preferred destination, with more than 2.5 million overnight stays and a decrease of 2.6% compared to August 2023. The Balearic Islands had the highest occupancy, with 90% of the apartments offered.
