Turismo Lanzarote is participating until May 3 in the Palma International Boat Show, the most important nautical event in Spain and one of the most relevant in the Mediterranean. Under the brand Lanzarote Superyacht Destination, the island reinforces its strategy to attract high-level nautical tourism, positioning itself as a strategic enclave for large vessels.
The insular delegation is composed of Turismo Lanzarote, Estella Shipping - one of the world's leading superyacht service companies, with a permanent base on the island - and the three marinas that make Lanzarote an undisputed reference in the Canary Islands: Puerto Calero, Marina Lanzarote and Marina Rubicón.
The participation will serve to strengthen alliances with captains, suppliers and agents of the sector, and continue to consolidate the island as a premium destination on the international nautical map.
Lanzarote quadruples the turnover of the superyacht industry
The direct economic impact of the superyacht industry in Lanzarote has quadrupled in the last four years. In 2024 alone, the revenue generated has reached figures four times higher than those of 2021. 90% of this turnover directly impacts local professionals and companies, which makes this segment a strategic avenue for economic diversification for the island.
The average expenditure per boat has also registered a notable growth, going from nearly 10,000 euros per berthing in 2021 to 32,324 euros in 2024. Added to this is the knock-on effect of the crew, with an average of 12 people per yacht, which contributes to tourist spending in restaurants, accommodation, transport and local commerce.
A reference in superyacht repair
In 2014, Calero Marinas installed in Marina Lanzarote what was at the time the most powerful travel lift in Spain, with capacity to lift vessels of up to 820 tons and 65 meters in length. This infrastructure allowed the island to offer repair services to superyachts, a niche that was previously unattended in the Canary Islands, and represented an investment of more than 2.5 million euros.
More than a decade later, the Marina Lanzarote shipyard has consolidated itself as a reference in the Atlantic for large shipowners and captains, who trust its facilities to fine-tune high-value vessels. This infrastructure, together with the strategic location of the island as the first stopover for voyages to America or Africa, positions Lanzarote as a leading nautical destination worldwide.
