The non-hotel occupation falls seven points in Lanzarote in April

The number of overnight stays also falls compared to last year in Lanzarote, although it does not decrease as much as in the Canary Islands as a whole

The non-hotel tourist apartments of Lanzarote had an occupancy in April of 75.8%, which represents almost seven points less than the same month last year when they were occupied at 82.4%, according to the latest survey of tourist apartments from the National Statistics Institute (INE). 

Overnight stays also fell by 5.1% in April compared to last year. The figure is marked by the fall in foreign tourism, which spent 6.6% fewer nights in Lanzarote than in April 2026, while national tourism increased overnight stays by 15.8%. 

There was more national tourism with about a thousand more tourists than last year, exceeding 9,000 travelers, while the number of foreign tourists fell by about two thousand people to 61,300 travelers. 

By autonomous communities, Canary Islands was the preferred destination for apartments, with more than 1.9 million overnight stays, although it marked a decrease of 11.9% compared to April 2025. 

At the national level, overnight stays in tourist apartments increased by 0.4% in April. Those of residents grew by 5.2%, while those of non-residents decreased by 1.6%.

In April, 36.2% of the offered places were occupied, 1.1% more than in the same month of 2025. The occupancy rate per place on weekends was 42.0%, 3.8% more.

70.2% of overnight stays were made by non-resident travelers. The United Kingdom was the main issuing market, with 33.6% of the total.

By tourist areas, Gran Canaria was the preferred destination, with more than 646,000 overnight stays. Costa Barcelona presented the highest occupancy rate, at 82.5%. The tourist points with the highest number of overnight stays were San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Mogán, and Arona.
