Despite the celebrations during the last edition of Fitur about the fact that Lanzarote is the island with the highest spending per tourist, the reality is that it was only during the summer months.
During the summer, the average spending in Lanzarote amounted to 191.7 euros per visitor and was the highest in the Canary Islands during that quarter.
However, both in the fourth quarter, that is, between October and December, and in the average of the entire year 2024, the average spending in Lanzarote was lower than that of Tenerife, according to ISTAC data published by the Lanzarote Data Center.
If on the island of volcanoes the spending amounted in both cases to 177.9 euros, on the largest island of the Canary Islands, it amounted to 179.6 euros between October and December and 183.1 on average during the entire 2024.
Thus, Lanzarote achieved the second highest tourist spending during the past year. In third place was Gran Canaria (170.9 euros), closely followed by Fuerteventura, where it marked 170.6 euros and La Palma (154.3). The ISTAC Survey in this regard does not include data for the rest of the islands.
The breakdown of spending in Lanzarote per tourist during 2024 attributes to accommodation 79.8 euros on average per person per day, followed by air transport (50.1 euros), local transport (10.2), food (25.7), recreational activities (6.7) and shopping (4.7).
