Fitur 2024 Inauguration

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has inaugurated the Lanzarote stand at Fitur 2025, together with the Lanzarote Tourism team and the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León, among other island and regional authorities.

Oswaldo Betancort has reaffirmed his joint commitment to a sustainable, diversified tourism model aligned with environmental preservation, highlighting the island as a global benchmark in quality tourism.

In this regard, Betancort stated that "Lanzarote and La Graciosa arrive at Fitur 2025 with a clear message: we are quality destinations that are committed to ethical and sustainable tourism. We want every visitor to be aware of the importance of protecting what makes our islands unique."

"The figures position Lanzarote as the leader in tourist spending per visitor in the Canary Islands (almost 192 euros per tourist, according to data from the third quarter of 2024), reinforcing the idea of a model that prioritizes quality over quantity," he notes.

In addition, he highlighted that "Lanzarote registers the lowest percentage growth in visitor numbers in the archipelago (7.8%), which confirms that "the data confirms the good course of the strategy we have been working on for more than a year towards qualitative, balanced and respectful tourism with the values of Lanzarote," Betancort stressed.

Within the framework of this vision, Lanzarote will present its Guide to Sustainable Good Practices on this first day, prepared together with the Tourism Federation and with Biosphere certification, reaffirming its commitment to responsible tourism. Likewise, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Charter for Sustainable Tourism marked a milestone in the continuous commitment to preserving the territory.

The participation of Lanzarote Tourism in Fitur 2025 will also consolidate key agreements aimed at strengthening connectivity, environmental protection and the positioning of the island as a global leader in responsible tourism.
