Despite the demonstrations on April 20 that reflected the discomfort of a good part of the people of Lanzarote with mass tourism, the arrival figures continue to increase and with the data from the first semester, in which more than 1.7 million tourists have already been exceeded, not counting inter-island tourism, it is more than likely that this year will greatly exceed 3 million tourists on the island.
Between January and June, 1.43 million tourists from foreign airports have arrived in Lanzarote, 10% more than those who arrived in the same period of 2023, which was already a record compared to previous years, according to the Lanzarote Data Center.
If we add to this figure the arrivals from Spanish airports on the peninsula, which, in the absence of data from June, amounted to 274,634 people between January and May, the influx of tourists during the first half of the year exceeds 1.7 million people.
Among the arrivals from foreign airports, British travelers account for 56.7%, followed by Irish with 11.9% and Germans with 10.2% of the total.
The almost 100,000 arrivals of French citizens from January to June are equivalent to 6.9%, while the fifth foreign market in the first half of the year is the Netherlands, from where 3.1% of foreign tourists arrived.
