The island of Lanzarote has each day on average 249,095 people on its territory, which is known as total human pressure.
On one hand the 166,878 residents and on the other the 82,217 average tourists that the Canarian Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) calculates.
The calculation of ISTAC is done with the data of tourist arrivals, multiplied by the number of days of stay and divided by the 365 days of the year.
There are two municipalities in Lanzarote where there are every day more tourists than residents.
The biggest difference occurs in Yaiza, which accounts for 18,698 residents and a daily average of 28,405 tourists, so the human pressure on the municipality amounts to 47,103 people.
The second is Tías, where the human pressure exceeds 50,000 people. That is to say, 21,671 residents and an average of 28,405 tourists staying overnight each day.
Teguise, in third place, has 41,288 people every day on its territory. The residents are 23,946 citizens, while tourists amount to a daily average of 17,342.
In the capital of the island, human pressure amounts according to ISTAC to 72,696 people, the 70,265 residents plus 2,431 tourists per day, although this calculation does not take into account the thousands of cruise passengers who arrive in the city since they do not sleep in city accommodations.
In Tinajo, the daily tourist population is similar to that of Arrecife, that is 2,423 travelers, but its residents are 6,904, so the human pressure rises to 9,327 people.
Meanwhile, Haría registers a daily average of 1,887 tourists, which added to the 5,650 residents in the municipality raise the total population each day to 7,537 people.
San Bartolomé is the municipality with the fewest tourists on the island. Each day there are 1,322 tourists staying overnight, which adds to the 19,744 residents. Thus the total pressure rises to 21,066 people.
