Lanzarote's hotels generated 54 million euros in May, a 9.8% more than the same month last year, when it was 49.2 million euros, according to figures provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.
The revenue of the island's hotel establishments increased due to both the growth in rates, 6% compared to May 2025, and the number of people accommodated, 7.9% more.
On average, 126.5 euros per night were charged compared to 119.3 euros charged on average in the same month of 2025, which is equivalent to a 6% year-on-year growth in average rates.
The number of travelers who stayed in hotels on the island increased by 7.9%, which is equivalent to about 12,000 more people, reaching a total of 168,375 people accommodated in Lanzarote hotels last May.
Overnight stays in hotels also grew, by 6.5%, specifically from 890,736 last year to 948,799 this May.
Occupancy (74.9%) was lower this year than in May last year (79.4%), but this was not due to a drop in arrivals but because more tourist beds were offered. There were 42,719 beds compared to 39,177 the previous year.
Employment increased strongly in hotel establishments, by 18.8% compared to last year. Thus, staff reached 10,793 workers last May compared to 9,082 in the same month of 2025.
