Turismo de Canarias has launched the fifth phase of its dissemination campaign on sustainability initiatives linked to the tourism sector. Among the selected proposals is that of Hotel Barceló Playa Blanca, in the south of Lanzarote, focused on the employment of young migrants who have been under public guardianship.
Through a program promoted by the regional Executive in collaboration with private enterprise, these young people receive vocational training and access to jobs in the establishment under the same salary and contractual conditions as the rest of the staff. The experience has been captured in a two-minute audiovisual microcapsule in which participants and managers describe the operation and scope of the project.
The communication action, co-financed with ERDF funds, is structured around seven projects spread across the archipelago and will be broadcast on social networks and in the media. It will be disseminated externally in ten markets: Spain (mainland and Balearic Islands), United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Norway; locally, it will be disseminated under the slogan The destination we want to be.
"With this action, we focus on the good practices carried out by companies, institutions, and local communities, which show how tourism activity can contribute to the improvement of the natural environment, social well-being, and the economic development of our land and our people," said the Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León.
