While German tourism to Lanzarote is not picking up, French tourism continues to grow. Last year, more than 200,000 people arrived from French airports, an absolute record of arrivals from France in the history of Lanzarote.
The previous year they were already close to reaching this figure with a total of 198,447 travelers. The French market is the one that has grown the most in recent years in Lanzarote.
If we look at the data from ten years ago, in 2014 just over 81,000 people arrived on the island from French airports. That is, considerably less than half compared to the last year.
And if we go back 25 years, in 1999, a record year for arrivals from Germany, which exceeded half a million visitors that year, just over 24,000 people arrived from France.
The favorite months for the French to visit Lanzarote are March and April with nearly 20,000 arrivals from France each.
In contrast, January and September recorded the lowest numbers of arrivals from the neighboring country in 2024, around 13,000 people per month.
