“Tenerife and Lanzarote share sun all year round, spectacular beaches and volcanic landscapes, but offer very different experiences”, begins an article from the pan-European channel Euronews published this Wednesday.
The channel has a potential reach of 400 million households in Europe and broadcasts simultaneously in more than a dozen languages.
“Tenerife combines volcanic scenery with lively resorts, lush countryside and plenty of activities, while Lanzarote is known for its barren landscapes, very characteristic architecture and a relaxed atmosphere”, explains the Euronews article.
On the one hand, the article highlights that Tenerife wins “by sheer variety”. According to it, “it’s easy to spend a week here without feeling like you’re doing the same thing every day”.
It also emphasizes that Tenerife is “somewhat easier to get to than Lanzarote thanks to its two airports and more frequent daily flights”.
However, for Euronews, the rabbit island is “the most unique” and highlights that “it’s hard to find another place in Europe that looks, or feels, exactly the same”.
In addition to the work of César Manrique, the article highlights the “almost lunar landscape” of Lanzarote formed by “300 volcanic cones and large fields of black lava that give some parts of the island an almost otherworldly feel”.
It also highlights the uniqueness of La Geria, “where grapes are grown in volcanic soil and wine is produced in a unique way”, and of Timanfaya National Park, “the best place to witness unique geothermal demonstrations”.
The Euronews article also highlights Lanzarote's strengths for sports: “it is one of the favorite destinations for cyclists” and “surfers will find plenty of quiet spots to surf”.
