The flow of arrivals of passengers from the mainland to Lanzarote has registered a downturn in the first eight months of 2026.

Between January and August, the island received a total of 505,738 mainland travelers, representing an accumulated decrease of 3.5% compared to the 524,284 arrivals recorded in the same period of the previous year. This loss of 18,546 visitors is mainly due to the sluggishness experienced during the first half of the year, a negative balance that the summer rebound has not managed to cushion.

The year began in January with 51,324 mainland passenger arrivals, which represented a 10.2% drop compared to the previous month and a 3.8% decrease compared to the same month in 2025. The downward trend accentuated drastically in February, a month that registered the largest contraction in the analyzed period with a year-on-year decrease of 12.3% and a drop of 12.7% compared to January, totaling just 44,793 travelers.

In March there was a significant monthly increase of 22.1% driven by the holiday calendar, reaching 54,701 arrivals, although the figure remained 3.6% below that recorded in the same month of the previous year. April again showed signs of weakness with a year-on-year decrease of 8.4% and 56,705 arrivals, despite experiencing a slight increase of 3.7% compared to March.

During the month of May, the arrival of mainland passengers grew by 6.8% monthly to 60,551 travelers, but it did not manage to surpass the 2025 mark, remaining 4.1% below.

June marked the change in direction of the semester by becoming the first month with a positive year-on-year balance, totaling 72,278 people, which represented a strong advance of 19.4% compared to the previous month and a timid year-on-year increase of 0.5%.

The month of July concentrated a notable volume of demand with a monthly increase of 14% and a total of 82,409 visitors, although the figure was 1.4% below the maximum recorded in July of the previous year. Finally, August reached the annual peak with 82,977 mainland passengers, which represented a modest increase of 0.7% compared to July and consolidated the positive year-on-year trend with a rebound of 0.5%.
