According to the Arrecife City Council, the Luminara, a large yacht from The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection hotel company, has docked at the cruise ship pier in the capital of Lanzarote, with 400 millionaire passengers, on a trip from Gibraltar, on a 9-day circuit, which set sail at the end of October from Barcelona to tour the Canary Islands.
The Luminara left the Chantiers de l’Atlantique (Saint-Nazaire, France) shipyards on July 20 and made its inaugural voyage through the Mediterranean in August.
Four months after that inaugural voyage, this yacht of 242 meters in length, 29 meters in beam, and a draft of 6.2 meters, has a capacity for 452 passengers in 226 suites, all with a private terrace.
Its propulsion is through liquefied natural gas (LNG), and state-of-the-art Wärtsilä engines that reduce emissions, advanced water treatment systems, and low-energy lighting using LED technology.
The specialized press estimated that The Ritz-Carlton allocated around 700 million euros for the construction of this yacht, the third of its generation dedicated to premium tourism, with a high spending capacity, and who are usually guests of the exclusive hotels of this chain. One of Luminara's most striking features is its commitment to art and design. The yacht houses around 700 works of art, 65% of which were created specifically for this ship.
From contemporary sculptures to pieces by artists such as Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, and David Hockney, every corner is designed to inspire.
"The Art Bar on deck nine is just one of its seven bars, while the impressive illuminated sculpture that spans seven decks is an example of the fluid dialogue between interior design and the sailing experience," explains the Arrecife City Council.
The Luminaria, on its first voyage through the Canary Islands, visited the port of Arrecife this Monday, where it will remain docked until 1:00 a.m., on a trip from Gibraltar, after almost two days of navigation. According to firms specializing in these cruises, this 9-day circuit, with a stopover in Lanzarote, costs nearly 35,000 euros per suite.
