The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea has cancelled four of its nine routes to Lanzarote, as can be seen on its website.
The company has cancelled the routes between Lanzarote and the French cities of Brest, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, and Toulouse.
Thus, only the other five routes with Lanzarote from the airline to Asturias, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, and Nantes remain.
Lanzarote has not been the only island affected by the airline's cutbacks, as about twenty routes connecting to different points in Spain have disappeared.
Regarding the Canary Islands, from Bordeaux Volotea will no longer fly to Fuerteventura or Tenerife-South, and from Lyon it is ceasing to offer six routes such as the one to Gran Canaria.
Likewise, from Brest it will no longer fly to Tenerife-South. For the moment, the cancellations only affect the winter season, so it is hoped that the routes will return in the summer season.
Reorganization of aircraft for new routes from A Coruña and Pamplona
After securing new public connectivity contracts in A Coruña and Navarra, the Spanish low-cost airline is reorganizing the routes of its 42 aircraft (Airbus A319 and A320 models) to cover these operations and maximize its winter campaign.
After winning the tender from the local Tourism Consortium, the company founded by Carlos Muñoz will take on five national routes from A Coruña airport (connecting with Alicante, Bilbao, Malaga, Seville, and Valencia). The plan includes launching the flights before the end of the year, adding a capacity of over 200,000 seats per year.
Starting in November, the company will begin operating the direct route between Pamplona and Seville with two flights a week, marking its operational debut at the Navarrese aerodrome.
