Of the 3,500 million euros that tourists spent to pay for their holidays in Lanzarote last year, almost half, 1,695 million euros, were contributed by the 1.5 million British travelers who visited the island.
The data comes from the latest survey by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) on this matter, which breaks down the data of British, German, Dutch and Nordic tourists.
The average tourist spending is higher among Nordic tourists, whose total spending amounted to 87 million in 2023. The 67,000 Nordic tourists who visited the island made an average expenditure of 1,300 euros. The average for British tourists is 1,100 euros.
The second position is occupied by travelers from the Netherlands who made a total expenditure of 102 million euros, so each of the 67,000 Dutch tourists who visited the island in 2023 spent an average of 1,257 euros.
Next are the Germans, who spent a total of 351 million euros. The average expenditure of the 305,000 Germans who visited the island in 2023 amounted to 1,150 euros.
