The Housing Minister of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodriguez, highlighted this Thursday that his department will invest 1.5 million euros this year to promote industrialized construction in a development of protected housing in the Canary Islands, with the aim of exploring this avenue for the development of public park properties.
Industrialized construction is presented as an alternative to traditional construction, as it shortens times and reduces costs.
This type of construction uses innovative processes and techniques and is characterized by producing the various components in a facility different from the place where they will be finally assembled. And it goes far beyond prefabricated construction. The objective is to transfer the maximum amount of elements to the factory that will then shape the building.
Rodríguez made the announcement during a visit to the facilities of the Canarian company EasyHome, dedicated to this construction method, accompanied by the managing director of Social Housing and Infrastructure of the Canary Islands, S.A.U. (VISOCAN), Javier Terán.
The department is already studying carrying out a project on a plot located in Juan Grande, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, for which VISOCAN has already requested the land from the City Council.
Minister Pablo Rodríguez highlighted that "this type of solution has the capacity to reduce construction times, optimizing costs and guaranteeing high quality, which is fundamental in the current context of housing demand."
"We are exploring new ways of building that are faster. What we have seen here today demonstrates that it is possible to build decent housing in much less time than traditional construction allows," he specified.
"We are at a time when public administrations have the responsibility to innovate, to pave the way for new construction formulas that, without renouncing technical and urban standards, allow us to save time without losing guarantees," added Rodríguez.
Likewise, he also underlined the added value of betting on Canarian companies that develop solutions adapted to our island condition. "This type of initiative not only generates local employment, but also allows reducing logistical costs and accelerating delivery times."
