The cheapest Canary Island municipality to rent in the region is La Orotava, where the average rent per square meter amounts to 9.5 euros, according to a report by the real estate portal Idealista.com.
Prices in the Tenerife municipality are 38% lower than the Canary Islands average, where the average rent amounts to 15.1 euros per square meter.
Nationally, the cheapest municipality is Linares, in the province of Jaén. There, the square meter costs an average of 5.6 euros per month.
In second position is Puertollano (Ciudad Real) with 5.7 euros per square meter, followed by Don Benito (Badajoz) which is located at 5.9 euros.
Between 6 and 7 euros are the municipalities of Valdepeñas (Ciudad Real), Almendralejo (Badajoz), Ontinyent (Valencia), Ponferrada (León), Lucena (Córdoba), Narón (A Coruña), Langreo (Asturias), Alcanzar de San Juan (Ciudad
Real), Plasencia (Cáceres) and Mérida (Badajoz).
Between 7 and 8 euros are Tortosa (Tarragona), Mieres del Camino (Asturias). Burriana (Castellón), Elda (Alicante), Molina de Segura (Murcia), Ogíjares (Granada), Alcoy (Alicante), Xátiva (Valencia), Alcantarilla (Murcia), Ronda (Málaga), Ferrol (A Coruña) and Ciudad Real capital.
In all cases, the difference between the prices of these municipalities and their respective autonomous communities are remarkable. The biggest jump occurs in Tortosa, which is 64% cheaper than the price of Catalonia, similar to that recorded in Linares compared to Andalusia.
