Vacation homes continue to rise on the island of Lanzarote, awaiting the Canary Islands Government's approval of the regional law that will regulate their use. Since the announcement of the preliminary draft, there has been a stampede of registrations, and the island of volcanoes has already exceeded 9,000 homes intended for tourist use. This is revealed by the data from the General Tourism Registry of the Canary Islands.

In the case of Lanzarote, there are already 9,350 vacation homes registered as of November 18, according to official figures updated daily by Open Data of the Canary Islands. In just one month, 145 new vacation homes have been registered on the island of volcanoes, representing a growth of 4,152 (+79.9%) compared to June 2023, when the Caja Canarias-Ashotel Tourism Chair of the University of La Laguna provided the data for the first evolution. The town of Playa Blanca currently has 1,313 vacation homes registered in the General Tourism Registry, Puerto del Carmen has 1,082, and Costa Teguise has 673. Therefore, these three tourist centers account for 3,068 of the 9,350 registered homes, which is 32.8% of the total.

However, vacation homes are now distributed throughout the island in all localities and have reached areas traditionally far from tourism, such as the town of Haría, where there are already 20 homes for this use, with 148 beds. In addition, there are coastal towns such as Caleta de Famara, with 133 vacation homes, or Caleta de Sebo, in La Graciosa, with 167.

By municipalities, registrations have grown by 2% in Yaiza, the municipality on the island with the most homes intended for the vacation market, which already has 2,665 tourist homes; after that, there is Tías, the second town with the most vacation homes, reaching a total of 2,482, 1.6% more than a month ago; Teguise is the third municipality in number of homes intended for the tourist market, with 1.02% more than in October, and a total of 1,880 registered.

The trend continues to rise also in the capital of Lanzarote, Arrecife, where they grew by 1.67% in the last 30 days, currently occupying 1,033 houses and apartments. To a lesser extent, in Haría they have grown by 1.18% in a month, to 513; in San Bartolomé, by 2.57%, the largest growth on the island, to 478; and by 0.6% in Tinajo, to 297.
