The Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), headed by Antonio Ortega, and the Official Chambers of Commerce of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife have signed a cooperation agreement for the management of subsidies for the Youth Rental Voucher, 2025 call.

The agreement, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), establishes the framework for collaboration between the Government of the Canary Islands and the chambers of commerce to efficiently and effectively channel the processing and payment of aid aimed at young people under 35 years of age, with the aim of promoting their emancipation and facilitating access to rental housing.

The call has an initial credit of 10.6 million euros transferred by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, which will be supplemented by the remaining funds from previous years that have not been executed. In addition, a specific line of 1.4 million euros, financed by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, is included, which guarantees that a greater number of young people from Lanzarote can benefit from this rental support.

The aid consists of a fixed amount of 250 euros per month for a maximum of 24 months, which can amount to up to 6,000 euros per beneficiary.

The agreement recognizes the experience and capacity of the Chambers of Commerce to act as collaborating entities in this type of program.

Thanks to their territorial implementation and the in-person and online assistance they will provide to citizens, it is expected that the processing and payment times for aid will be significantly reduced, in contrast to previous calls in which management was carried out without collaborating entities.

The counselor emphasized that "this collaboration is essential to respond in reasonable times to the high demand from young people in the Canary Islands who need support to become independent and access housing, in a context of housing emergency in the islands."

The agreement will have an initial duration of four years, extendable to a maximum of six, and provides for the creation of a Monitoring Commission that will supervise its compliance, resolve incidents, and propose improvements in management.
