A 58% of Canarians would like to continue living in Spain - compared to 67% of the national average - and 23% would move to Europe, according to the II Housing Barometer 'Planeta Propietario', prepared by Grupo Mutua Propietarios, which each year analyzes, among other aspects, satisfaction with our place of residence.
But if moving to another country is a complex decision, moving to another autonomous community is a feasible option for 48% of Canarians. At this point, Andalusia (14%), Galicia (7%) and the Community of Madrid (6%) are the most desired regions to live in for Canarians, followed by Asturias (5%).
According to the II Housing Barometer 'Planeta Propietario', Andalusia is the favorite region to move to for people from Extremadura (30%), Balearic Islanders (27%) or Aragonese (20%), and it also grows as an autonomous community with the highest percentage of population satisfied with their place of residence (59%), compared to 41% of Canarians who remain faithful to their region, two points below last year.
The II Barometer of Grupo Mutua Propietarios also delves into the level of satisfaction with our current home and the expectations related to the usual residence. The report reveals that 30% of Canarians intend to change homes in the coming years.
In the section of loyalty to the place of residence, it is also worth highlighting the strong growth of the people from Rioja who rise 14 points (from 21% to 35%), and people from Aragon who increase by 12 points (from 23% to 35%) their satisfaction. On the opposite pole we find the people from Madrid (25%), who express a greater predisposition to change, followed by people from Castilla y León (27%), people from Castilla-La Mancha (28%) and people from Extremadura (28%).
Once decided that we pack our bags, the preferred destinations also change depending on the place of origin. For example, 19% of residents in Navarra, 13% of Cantabrians and 10% of Catalans opt for the Basque Country as their favorite region. A preference that could be motivated by factors such as geographical proximity, lifestyle or cultural affinity.
In the case of Madrid, 12% of its inhabitants are committed to Andalusia, with Asturias (9%) or the Valencian Community (8%) being the following options, while 10% of the people from Castilla-La Mancha would move to Madrid and 11% of the Galicians choose the Canary Islands as an ideal place to live.
"A choice that may be driven by very diverse reasons. In the case of Madrid, the accelerated pace of life, the cost of housing and urban congestion lead part of the population to seek quieter or more affordable environments.
In regions such as Castilla-La Mancha or Extremadura, on the other hand, the intention could be related to the search for better job opportunities or more adequate access to basic services," explain from Grupo Mutua Propietarios.
