The Department of Urban Planning of the Arrecife City Council submitted a new proposal to the Governing Board this Wednesday for the granting of urban licenses aimed at the construction of homes in the municipality.
With this recent approval, the Area directed by Cabrera has authorized, throughout 2024, the construction of a total of 131 homes in the island's capital. The council defends in a statement that this figure represents a significant advance in the City Council's housing policy, exceeding initial expectations.
As the councilor emphasizes, "we continue to fulfill the commitment we have made since the beginning of this term to expedite procedures in the Technical Office as much as possible to promote the creation of new homes in Arrecife in order to combat the housing crisis."
In addition to addressing the housing shortage, this initiative, according to the council, has a positive impact on the local economy. The councilor responsible for the Urban Planning Area of Arrecife highlights that "by favoring the granting of these building permits, we also contribute to reactivating a sector such as construction, which generates employment and therefore sustenance for many families in our municipality through the creation of jobs."
The Arrecife Technical Office has demonstrated remarkable efficiency in recent months. In the last semester of 2023, more than 175 urban planning certificates were issued. This pace of work has been maintained and improved during 2024, as evidenced by the current figures.
The Arrecife City Council continues to work on long-term urban planning. Currently, several minor modifications to the Arrecife General Plan are being carried out. These initiatives seek to adapt urban planning to the current and future needs of the city, ensuring sustainable and balanced development.
