The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Lanzarote Wines celebrates the excellent results obtained by the island's wines in the 2025 edition of the International Awards Virtus, held in the Huelva town of La Rábida at the end of April.

It is one of the benchmark international competitions on the global wine scene and recognized for bringing together distinguished tasters, sommeliers, specialized journalists, and industry professionals from different countries each year.

In this edition, the winery Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica has achieved two important recognitions for Lanzarote wines. The wine Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica has been distinguished with a Gran Gold medal in the category of white wines, while Lágrima de Listán Negro has obtained a Gold medal in the category of red wines.

These awards "once again highlight the quality, uniqueness, and personality of the wines made on the island, the result of a unique heroic viticulture in the world and a deep respect for the territory and native varieties".

The Virtus International Awards have consolidated in recent years as "a prestigious international platform for the promotion and recognition of excellent wines, especially valuing the authenticity, identity, and quality of the productions presented".

The president of the Regulatory Council DOP Vinos de Lanzarote, Jorge Rodríguez, has wanted to congratulate the awarded winery and highlight the importance of these recognitions for the island's wine sector. “Every international award our wines receive means recognition for the enormous work carried out by Lanzarote's winegrowers and winemakers. These results show that our wines continue to conquer markets and experts thanks to their authenticity, quality, and unique volcanic character,” he emphasizes.

Likewise, Rodríguez adds that “the success of Lanzarote wines in prestigious international competitions contributes to reinforcing the image of Lanzarote as a singular wine-growing region and a benchmark within the global oenological landscape”.
