Bodegas El Grifo has been internationally recognized by winning a gold medal with its Reserva de Familia 2021 in the 19th edition of the prestigious international competition Syrah du Monde, held on May 15 and 16 in the Castle of the town of Ampuis, north of the Rhone Valley, in France.

"This recognition once again places Lanzarote wines in the world's oenological elite, highlighting the excellence of the monovarietals made with Syrah grapes grown in the island's unique volcanic landscape," explain from the Regulatory Council.

In this edition, the contest brought together a total of 207 samples from 22 countries. The international jury awarded 68 medals: 32 gold and 36 silver, which reinforces the merit of this distinction obtained by the Reserva de Familia 2021, a wine that faithfully reflects the typicity of its varietal and the character of the territory.

The Syrah du Monde competition is "one of the most recognized events worldwide dedicated exclusively to wines made with 100% Syrah grapes", valuing not only the technical quality, but also the expression and authenticity of each oenological proposal. The participation and success of the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote in this competition reinforces the image of the island wines as quality references in international markets.

The president of the Regulatory Council of the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote, Jorge Rodríguez, celebrated these new successes: “The gold medal obtained by our Reserva de Familia 2021 in Syrah du Monde represents a milestone that confirms the outstanding level of the wines produced in Lanzarote.”
