The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Wines of Lanzarote held this Monday, at the headquarters of the organization, the composition session to elect its new board of directors. After starting the electoral cycle in August 2023 after its publication in the BOC and under the supervision of the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality, this concluded successfully with the designation of the new representatives.
Thus, representing the wine sector, the new board will include Eamonn López, María Teresa Valls, José Miguel Morales and Jorge Rodríguez Alonso, who in turn has been appointed new president of the Regulatory Council.
On the other hand, the wine sector will be represented by Francisco Fabelo (Bodega Generación 63), appointed vice president; Víctor Díaz (Bodega Vulcano), the figure responsible for economic management as treasurer; Fermín Otamendi (Bodega El Grifo) and Ricardo Socas (Bodega Malpaís de Máguez).
The ICCA was also attended by its director, Luis Celestino Arráez Guadalupe, and Amparo Caballero Rubiato, from the Legal Area; in addition to Nereida Pérez González, secretary-manager of the Regulatory Council.
These members symbolize both the faction of grape producers and wine producers in Lanzarote, ensuring equitable and dedicated representation for the future direction of the Council.
"The establishment of the renewed council symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter for the DOP Wines of Lanzarote, in which the identity and positioning of Lanzarote wines will continue to be strengthened, as had been done to date," said the new president of the Regulatory Council, Jorge Rodríguez.
"In addition, we will pave the way for innovative initiatives and a shared vision of growth for the island's wine sector. With the support and passion of all its members, the future of Lanzarote wines presents good expectations," he added.
