The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote presents an exceptional start to the year for the island's wine sector, with a harvest of awards that recognizes the uniqueness and quality of its wines in three competitions on the international scene: Virtus 2025 (Portugal), Vinistra (Croatia) and Frankfurt International Trophy (Germany).

These recognitions consolidate Lanzarote's image as a world reference in the production of volcanic wines, with native varieties such as Malvasía Volcánica and Listán Negro as protagonists.

At the Frankfurt International Trophy 2025, where more than 3,500 samples competed, evaluated by a demanding international jury, Bodega La Geria won a gold medal for its Manto Tinto 3 Meses Barrica 2023. This award highlights the exceptional qualities that the volcanic terroir gives to the island's red wines.

During the The World of Malvasía event, organized by Vinistra —an association linked to the prestigious Decanter— in Croatia, two Lanzarote wineries shone brightly. Bodegas El Grifo obtained a gold medal with its refined Malvasía Lías 2018, while Bodega La Geria completed its successful international participation with two silver medals for its Manto Malvasía Volcánica expressions in its Dry and Semi-sweet versions.

Meanwhile, the Virtus International Competition in Lisbon crowned Bodega Lágima de Malvasía de Producciones Arráez Bravo as the great winner of the event, with an extraordinary harvest of four medals. Its wines Lágima Malvasía (fermented in barrel, 2024) and Lágima de Malvasía Volcánica Rosado 2024 were distinguished with two grand golds. They completed their success with two additional gold medals for Lágima de Malvasía Volcánica Blanco Seco 2024 and Lágima de Listán Negro Tinto Joven 2024.

From the Regulatory Council, its president Jorge Rodríguez has expressed his satisfaction: “These awards are a reflection of the commitment, passion and mastery with which our wineries work every day. They demonstrate that Lanzarote wines are not only unique for their volcanic origin, but also for their technical and sensory excellence. We feel deeply proud.”
