The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Vinos de Lanzarote has celebrated the recent successes of Bodegas El Grifo and Bodegas Vega de Yuco at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, held in London.
On June 4, 2024, the Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the most influential wine competitions in the world, according to the Regulatory Council, recognized the excellence of Lanzarote wines.
El Grifo was awarded with a Gold medal for its Malvasía Seco Colección 2023. For its part, Bodegas Vega de Yuco stood out with two Silver medals for its Malvasía Volcánica wines ‘Esencia Yaiza’ and ‘Vega de Yuco’.
The Decanter World Wine Awards, known for their rigor and prestige, attract thousands of wines from all over the world, evaluated by a panel of international experts.
Specifically, this year it has evaluated 18,143 wines from 57 countries. In addition, this edition has involved 243 specialized judges, including 20 Master Sommeliers and 61 Masters of Wine, all of them renowned figures in the wine industry.
Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council, has indicated the pride that these recognitions represent, “they not only validate the exceptional quality of our wines, but also reinforce their position. We congratulate the awarded wineries and thank them for their continued effort to raise the prestige of our wine products.”
