This Wednesday, June 14th, marks 6 years since the relaunch of El Faro cheese factory in Lanzarote by brothers Luis Manuel and Omar Alejandro Viña Melián, who have transformed a small Lanzarote cheese factory into a regional benchmark.

"We are aware that we still have a long way to go and many goals to achieve, but this does not stop us; we are very mindful of the teachings of our father and intend to always carry on his legacy," the brothers explained in a statement. They also thanked workers, customers, and suppliers for their daily effort that "makes it possible to reach every corner of the Canary Islands."

Currently, they process 14,000 liters daily of milk compared to the 2,000 liters with which they started the business in 2017 and have the capacity to reach 30,000 liters.

Currently, they explain, El Faro "is among the leading cheese factories in the archipelago that process the largest amount of goat's milk." 12% of the milk comes from their own livestock and 88% from other farmers in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. In fact, they say, El Faro was the first cheese factory in Lanzarote to import milk from the neighboring island.

In addition to these figures is the growth of the herd, which has gone from 700 to 2,400 goats, as well as the modernization of the machinery inside the workshop, which improves productivity.

Likewise, the cheese factory reports that the renovation of its vehicle fleet allows them to access all corners inside and outside of Lanzarote, as they have considerably expanded the number of points of sale in the two capital islands, in addition to entering large supermarkets and surfaces throughout the region.
