The Lanzarote-based Einar liquor company has won three gold medals in the world-renowned Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition held last month in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The three Einar liqueurs that have been awarded are Gofio, Passion Fruit and Cactus.

A total of 2,965 samples from more than 20 countries were submitted to the competition, including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Greece, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Portugal, South Africa and the United States. Of these, 889 were awarded prizes recognising excellence and innovation in the wine and spirits industry.

The competition, which seeks to inform consumers and professionals about the quality of the award-winning wines and spirits and to promote their production, awarded 'Grand Gold Medals' to those samples that obtained scores of 95 points or more; Gold Medal for those that achieved between 89 and 94 and "Silver Medal" for those between 80 and 88 points.

The competition reported that a panel of expert tasters, "known for their impartiality and experience, rigorously evaluated each sample". This year they highlighted the "creativity and adaptability of producers" to meet changing market demands. They also announced that the next edition will be held in November.

Catavinum has thanked all the wineries and producers for their participation and contribution to excellence in the industry.
