The Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed of the Government of the Canary Islands has officially announced the XV edition of the Canary Award for Business Excellence corresponding to 2026, a consolidated initiative that seeks to recognize and promote the principles of quality, innovation, and excellence as fundamental pillars of business competitiveness in the islands.
The vice president Manuel Domínguez signed the bases that will govern this new call, whose deadline for submitting candidacies will be two months from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC). Applications must be formalized, exclusively, electronically through the electronic headquarters of the autonomous Executive.
The Canary Award for Business Excellence has an honorary nature and lacks economic endowment. Its objective is twofold. On the one hand, to publicly recognize the effort of Canary Islands companies in the continuous improvement of their management and results. And, on the other hand, to generate strategic information that allows guiding public policies to support business competitiveness.
The call includes three modalities: medium-large company, small industrial company, and small non-industrial company, in addition to the possibility of granting special mentions to the most outstanding candidacies in each category. Companies with a real establishment and activity in the Canary Islands may opt for the awards, excluding those that have already been winners in the two previous editions, as well as non-profit entities or those with public participation.
The evaluation process will be structured in several phases, including a pre-selection, specific audits and a final assessment by a jury. Among the criteria analyzed are the quality of management, the results obtained, the implementation of certified systems, innovation, social responsibility or the integration of equality policies.
The awards ceremony will be held in a public event, presided over by Manuel Domínguez, where the jury's decision will be announced. The awarded companies will receive a representative trophy and an accrediting diploma, in addition to institutional recognition and the visibility associated with this mark of excellence.
With this new call, the Government of the Canary Islands reinforces its commitment to the business fabric of the archipelago, promoting advanced and sustainable management models that contribute to economic development and the generation of quality employment.
