Unemployment has decreased in Lanzarote in May by 88 people (1.2%), bringing the total number of unemployed people on the island to 7,064.
That's 602 fewer people unemployed than in the same month last year.
Unemployment fell more in May among women (1.3%) than among men, and in terms of age groups, the decrease was greater among people between the ages of 25 and 44 (2.1%).
Regarding education, the fall in unemployment on the island was more pronounced among university graduates (5.5%) and those with professional training (4.7%).
By municipalities, unemployment fell in Arrecife by 1.8%, equivalent to 67 people, while in Tías it fell by 2.5%, which is equivalent to 19 workers.
In Haría, the decrease was also 2.5%, which means seven fewer people on the unemployment lists in the northern municipality.
Yaiza experienced a decrease of 1.6%, which is equivalent to nine fewer people in unemployment.
In contrast, unemployment rose in Teguise (0.9%), San Bartolomé (0.7%) and Tinajo (0.3%), which means six, seven and one more people in unemployment, respectively.
