The Social Security has launched an institutional campaign to promote participation in the civil service examinations for its bodies and scales of officials which are announced annually in the Public Employment Offer. Its main objective is to attract new talent to this Public Administration who will join the public service and contribute to the improvement of the services provided to citizens.

Focused on attracting candidates to the main bodies and scales of Social Security (Superior Technicians; Controllers; Actuaries, Statisticians and Economists; Medical Inspectors; Management and Administrative), the campaign is mainly aimed at administrative, legal, public management, labor relations and economic profiles or similar who are looking for a stable professional option and public service that, as is the case with Social Security, has a real impact on the lives of millions of people.

Those interested in these examinations can opt for the more than 1,500 positions throughout the national territory contemplated in the open turn in the different bodies of the Social Security Administration in the Public Employment Offer of 2026, approved by Royal Decree 387/2026, of May 6 and whose calls will be made in the coming months.

The candidates who are successful will join the almost 2,000 new civil servants who have been appointed so far this year to take up a position in Social Security.

Scholarships for candidates in selection tests

The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations has opened the possibility for candidates in the selection tests for bodies and scales attached to its department to opt for the granting of scholarships to cover expenses incurred in their preparation. A ministerial order from last July 8 approved the regulatory bases for their granting on a competitive basis.

The Ministry will allocate 193,200 euros to provide 23 scholarships, of 8,400 euros per year each, to facilitate the preparation of candidates who wish to work in this Administration. These are the first scholarships aimed at facilitating the preparation of those who wish to join Social Security so that their economic situation is not an obstacle to preparing for the examinations for the bodies and scales of Social Security.

Beneficiaries may be individuals who, in addition to meeting the requirements set forth in the call for the Body or Scale in question and having habitual residence in Spain, prove their socioeconomic situation, are not receiving other public and private aid or subsidies for the same purpose, and are studying for the opposition under the direction of a specialized center or one or more tutors. Likewise, beneficiaries must prove that they are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations.

The scholarships will be awarded through the **competitive tendering** procedure, which will be carried out by evaluating the applications submitted, in accordance with the criteria established in these regulatory bases and in the corresponding call.

In each call, a percentage of 10% of these scholarships will be reserved for individuals with a disability rating equal to or greater than 33%. If these grants are declared vacant, they will be added to the remaining ones.
